Exhibited work and lectured, in London, before being appointed University Associate Professor and
Director of the first Edexcel Fine Art Foundation Course, in Bahrain. Published Academic work
’A Passage in Women’s Sculpture’ (Lambert Academic), and material magazine articles. Beattie uses
wood carving, mixed media recycled materials, and ceramics, to comment on the fragility of the
environment and destruction of natural diversity within it. Her sculptures are surrealist, with a hint
of irony and an accessibility to touch .
